미국의 팝스타이다. 1958년 8월 29일 미국 인디애나 주 게리에서 클라리넷 연주가였던 어머니와 그룹
팔콘스(The Falcons)에서 기타리스트로 활동했던 아버지 사이에서 9남매중 다섯번째로 태어났다.
형제들은 레비, 잭키, 티토, 저메인, 라토야, 말론, 랜디 그리고 자넷이다.
5세때부터 친척들과 형제들로 이루어진 '잭슨 파이브(The Jackson 5)'와 후의 '잭슨스(The Jacksons)'에서
활동했고, 1979년 처음 솔로앨범 《Off the wall》을 발표했다. 그후 《스릴러(Thriller)》(1982), 《배드(Bad)》
